Information:
Most accounts have to be closed either by visiting us in branch or online using the Internet Bank or Banking app. You won’t be able to call us to close an account over the phone unless we’ve let you know otherwise.
Close a current account
You can close your current account in the Internet Bank, or by visiting one of our branches.
Cancel a credit card
You can cancel and close your credit card over the phone.
Close a savings account, ISA or bond
You can close your savings account, ISA or bond using Internet Banking, or in one of our branches.
Help with closing your account
I don't currently bank online
Registering for internet banking is the quickest way to close your account. You can also visit us in branch to close your account – bring your passport or driving license and any account cards, passbooks or cheque books.
Can I close my current account and swap it for another?
Yes, you can use our current account switching service to do this.
Help with closed accounts
Why am I still receiving statements?
We'll still keep in touch and send you statements, even if your account is empty. If you don't want us to, you can ask us to close your account.
