Around 1 in 4 of us experience a mental health problem each year in the UK*. And we know that this can make everyday tasks, including managing your finances, more difficult.
Whether you have longer-term needs or are going through a difficult time, we’re here to support you.
Anything you tell us about your mental health is confidential and we will only ever use it to help you. It won’t impact any of the products or services you have with us.
We’ve partnered with the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute (MMHPI) and have achieved the level ’Accessible’ in their Mental Health Accessible Programme. This shows that we’re committed to ensuring that our services are easy to access and supportive for our customers.
On the phone
Our dedicated Specialist Support Team is here to help when you need it most.
They offer a confidential service. And are trained to understand a wide range of conditions and circumstances. Once they've understood your situation, they will discuss the options available to you.

Visit us in branch
If you prefer speaking face-to-face, our colleagues in branch are here to help you.
Our Branch Finder helps you plan your visit by giving important info around the specific services and facilities offered.
This will also tell you which of our branches offer safe spaces. These are available to anyone living with domestic abuse. And allow them to discreetly contact friends, family or specialist support.
Digital support
Don’t feel like talking right now? If you find it difficult to talk to someone face-to-face or on the phone, we offer various alternatives to manage your accounts.
- You can manage a lot of your banking online. Our Banking app and Internet Bank allow you to pay bills, move money and more. And you can do this any time, day or night.
- Arti – our virtual assistant – can help you in a number of ways. Simply ask a question or choose a topic to get started. Arti will find the answer for you. Or hand you over to someone who can.
- Text alerts can be a helpful way to keep an eye on your balance. You can choose to get a message once your salary arrives, or if your balance drops below a certain point. Or if a standing order, Direct Debit or bill can’t be paid due to insufficient funds.
- Manage how often we contact you by updating your marketing preferences. That way you can avoid getting communications you don’t want from us.
- We also have a large help section that could answer your question without having to call or visit us in branch.
Managing your money
Mental health problems and money worries are often linked. Because of this, we offer various services to support our customers during a difficult time.
If you’re struggling financially, or just want to make sure you’re doing all you can to make good financial choices, we can help you. As well information online, we also offer a cost of living helpline. This is available online through live chat, or you can call on 0800 030 40 66.
